Immigration office gets $450,000

A renewed federal grant for $450,000 will allow the Catholic Charities Immigration Services offices in Springdale and Little Rock to continue helping immigrant survivors of domestic abuse.

Bishop Taylor names vicar general

Msgr. Scott Friend, diocesan vocation director, has been tapped to be the vicar general for the Diocese of Little Rock. Bishop Anthony B. Taylor made the appointment Nov. 20.

CCHD cut off funds before voter issues arose

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development cut off funding earlier this year to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, known as ACORN, for reasons unrelated to the organization's current troubles over voter registration. No funds from the 2007 CCHD collection went to ACORN, and none will be sent from the 2008 collection.
